RACE Performance open the stable door at Donington...

RACE Performance caused quite the stir on Friday 23rd November by unveiling the very first Ford Performance Mustang GT4 in the UK at Donington Park.

Testing on the national circuit layout with 2018 BTCC Driver Sam Smelt at the wheel, the car ran without fault for the duration of the day and posted some very respectable lap times straight out of the box, as you would expect from a purpose built race car designed by Multimatic Motorsports, who design and build the Ford GT GTE WEC and Le Mans entries.

Looking resplendent in the now instantly recognisable RACE Livery and sounding frankly incredible, the car remained poised and sharp throughout the very cold and crisp day.

An extensive testing schedule is now underway before RACE will release where the car will be competing in 2019.

Team Principal Ryan Connolly was thoroughly impressed with the car's first outing...

"Yes, today has gone superbly well to be fair. This is a brand new car, having only carried out an initial shakedown when completed by Multimatic and is the very first one in the country, so we have had nothing to go against but the car is point blank incredible. She did not miss a beat all day, Sam was comfortable and his driver feedback was nothing but positive and the lap times achieved are extremely encouraging. Further testing I expect we will to be able to demonstrate class leading pace, so very exciting times!"

Sam Smelt was also very excited by the car,

"I felt instantly at home in the Mustang, the first session in the car was spent getting used to the change of chassis having become used to Front Wheel Drive and Turbocharged power plants in VW Cup and BTCC, however, I love the car. It's very balanced, very predictable and extremely rewarding to drive whilst also being extremely quick and capable. I cannot wait to get back in her and continue testing as we evaluate where we will be racing it in 2019."

Further information about the car can be found on the new "RACE Cars" Section of the website and please feel free to contact us for any further information about this groundbreaking machine.
